One of my newest favorite spots in NYC! We ordered their Hayashi Omurice, Napolitan Spaghetti (which was my favorite), and tangerine tea (from Jeju Island!). The eggs in the Omurice were runny and warm, a perfect blend with their savory sauce. The spaghetti had a really special umami flavor to it! I also liked how there was a layer of egg on the bottom of the dish. The tangerine tea was so fresh and I loved the overall ambiance of the restaurant as well. I definitely recommend coming here for lunch since they seem to be more known for their lunch items!

Cute Japanese Izakaya in the East village. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. All the food was delicious and I especially enjoyed the drinks as well. We were lucky enough to be seated at a table inside but the bar area outside seems to have a nice vibe too. Service was quick and friendly!

I still remember when I had to line up at their old spot for an hour just to eat their omurice in their 6 seater bar back in the day. To see them flourish and continue to serve such high quality food in a bigger restaurant with access to a more extensive menu makes me so happy. Their hiyashi omurice came with consommé this time around and they were so nice to provide two cups of it for me and my husband to share. By share, I mean I drank his too. It was savory and full of umami, perfect for a cold winter day. Their omelette was soft and fluffy. Their hiyashi sauce was sweet, stocky, and had generous amounts of mushroom and meat in it. I could finish a whole portion by myself and that says a lot since they serve up generous portions here. My husband loves their hotcakes. They aren't too sweet and are perfect to share as well. I can't wait to come back to try their other menu items but sometimes it's hard to deviate from the items I love so much. Another great perk is that they have reservations open even during brunch, so make sure to check it a week in advance.

I've been to Hi-Collar a few times now and their food does not disappoint! They also provide a glimpse into Japan with their delicious food selections of omurice, Napolitan spaghetti, a katsu sandwich, and a tamago sandwich. I've tried each of these and they are all delicious! In additional to their tasty food, they also have quite the selection of coffees, including their own housemate blend. Their coffees also offer pour over, and they also sell the coffee beans for you to take home. This place gets quite busy, so it's best if you have a reservation. I've been tempting fate and have been dining as a walk in (as a party of 2), and we've been seated either immediately or very quickly (with the promise that we'd be done before their next party arrives). Their staff is also polite, which adds to the welcoming ambiance of this restaurant.

Hi-Collar is a really cute Japanese cafe during the day and serves a variety of sweet and savory treats. I got: - Matcha hot cakes with azuki, chestnut compote, matcha ice cream, whipped cream, matcha crème anglaise - Original omurice - Japanese style omelette on top of tomato rice with chicken soboro - Egg sando on fluffy milk bread Everything was delicious, especially the egg sando. The interior design and vibes were so cute!

Hi-Collar lives up to their name for their Omurice. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and their hayashi sauce was packed with umami, and had a deep, rich flavour. I really enjoyed every bite of their omurice. My friend got the katsu hayashi rice, but I thought it could use more katsu. It wasn't very filling. Both dishes were a bit hefty at 25$... The coffee was incredible. I thought it was worth it and I enjoyed that we could pick the roast. The coffee was super smooth and brewed to perfection. The restaurant had a cool indoor-outdoor vibe but the bar seating was especially cozy and had great service - it reminded me of a local coffee shop in Tokyo. I wish we got dessert as well for brunch!

Amazing japanese spot on the LES. The ambiance of this place is so thoughtful and truly special! I love the use of wood throughout the restaurant and the skylight in the dining area. I've never been to Japan, but it was a wonderful place to eat! It's also one of the few places in the city to try omurice. I came on a Monday for lunch with a reservation with a friend and highly recommend splitting a few dishes here. The menu is more limited, but I was excited to try omurice specifically so wasn't too fussed. I got the omurice with wagyu beef sauce, and the matcha hot cakes. I enjoyed the omurice, which was also my first time trying it! The egg was really soft and silken, and the sauce added a lot of flavor. I was surprised by how sweet the sauce was, though! The matcha flavors in the hotcakes were really good and strong, and the fruit and granola and ice cream added a lot of great textures and temperature. There is also a great tea and coffee menu. Service was also excellent. The food came a bit slow, but our water was always full and everyone was very friendly and we never felt rushed. Highly recommend!

The cutest restaurant that makes you feel like you are in a true Japanese cafe and not nyc. I made reservations for Sunday brunch, which I highly recommend! There was a long line outside the door waiting for the restaurant to open. There were some walk-ins and they were able to immediately accommodate those customers, but they didn't have the best seats. Make reservations and sit at the bar to watch the barista make all sorts of beautiful drinks. The staff were all extremely friendly, the decor and vibes were on point and the food was delicious. For drinks, we ordered the Japanese iced coffee and nikka Black Russian. For the coffee you choose the beans, and the staff suggested Brazil since it's light and the newest one. Delicious and I loved watching how it was made. The Black Russian was smooth and too easy to drink! I would get that next time! For food, we ordered the Napolitan and Original Tomato Sauce Omurice. Both tasty and BIG portions. I loved the napolitan. It tasted like true home cooked Japanese meal. Very flavorful, had a great amount of meat and veggies and was a well rounded dish. My omurice was tasty, but needed more of a kick so I had to add a good bit of hot sauce. Next time, I will skip the tomato and get the Hayashi version for a bigger flavor profile. I will definitely make my way back here! Such a cute space with great music and food. Highly recommend!
